For decades, I have worked in accounting, finance, and executive leadership. My career has been dedicated to helping organizations bring structure, discipline, and transparency to their financial operations.
Today, I lead my own boutique advisory practice. My firm focuses on independent financial reporting for individuals, families, and owner-led businesses.
Throughout my career, one truth has remained constant: Clear financial visibility changes how decisions are made.
When financial information is organized, reconciled, and easy to understand, people make better decisions with more confidence and far less stress. But I also learned something else along the way. Even financially experienced people do not always have this level of insight in their own lives.
I'm an accountant and yet there was a time when I did not have clean, consolidated reporting for my own household finances. Like many families, life was busy. We were raising children, managing careers, and caring for aging parents. Financial information was scattered across accounts, statements, and systems. When questions came up, finding answers took far longer than it should have.
At one point, we needed to determine when we had purchased an item to see if it was still under warranty. What should have been a simple answer required digging through months of records. Then one day, I noticed something that truly caught my attention.
Two of our retirement accounts, both invested with similar goals, were performing very differently. One was significantly underperforming the other. Once I looked at the data with precision, the solution was surprisingly simple. A few small adjustments brought the performance back into alignment.
But what struck me most was this: If I had not been looking closely, that difference would have compounded quietly for years.
That experience changed the way I thought about personal financial oversight. When everything is visible, organized, and easy to review, small issues are caught early. Opportunities are identified sooner. Decisions are made with confidence rather than guesswork.
Today, my goal is to help others experience that same financial perspective. There is a common misconception that financial stress only stems from a lack of money. In my experience, a different but equally heavy burden exists for those who have achieved success: the stress of the unknown.
Even with significant assets, a lack of organization creates a persistent, underlying anxiety. Many individuals and families have excellent advisors: CPAs, investment advisors, and attorneys. However, they often lack a centralized, reconciled view of their overall financial picture.
When financial answers are easy to access, people make better decisions, not just about investments, but about life.
Over the years, I have shared these lessons with others through speaking and writing. In one particular talk, I shared the story of how discovering the performance gap in our own retirement accounts changed my entire approach to oversight. I realized that if a financial professional could overlook such a detail, anyone could.
After that presentation, an attendee told me that hearing my personal account completely changed how they approached their own finances. Moments like that reinforce something I have come to believe strongly: Financial transparency is not just about numbers; it is about peace of mind.
You can read the full story of that experience in my post, Paying Attention Pays Off.
I live in Atlantic Beach, Florida, and value the time I spend with my husband, our two sons, and our daughter-in-law. Outside of work, you will often find me walking along the beach, staying active, traveling, or enjoying time with our very large family and friends.
Originally from Massachusetts, I earned my BS in Accounting from UMass and my MBA in Finance from Providence College. I proudly cheer for all my New England sports teams and still occasionally miss pronouncing my “r”s. It is a small reminder of my roots, even while enjoying the Florida sunshine.
My work is built on a simple idea: Understanding begins when everything is visible in one place. When the financial picture is certain, decisions become easier and life becomes less stressful. That is the kind of vision I strive to bring to every client I work with.
